Our History

The first known unofficial discussion to obtain a junior college in Tallahassee, the first spark to ignite interest, came during the quiet moments of a fishing trip in 1963. Just two men in a boat, Tallahassean Louis Hill, a member of the Leon County Board of Public Instruction and later a member of the State Junior College Board, and Florida State University President Gordon Blackwell.
