Credit union and college officialsTallahassee, Fla. (October 17, 2017)— Another local business has committed to supporting a classroom renovation at Tallahassee Community College. The most recent donor is First Florida Credit Union, which is based in Jacksonville and has locations in many Florida counties, including those served by TCC—Gadsden, Leon and Wakulla.

The credit union’s $25,000 gift was presented at the October 16 meeting of the TCC District Board of Trustees by Brent Lister, First Florida Credit Union’s president and CEO. The investment will support technology and infrastructure updates for a classroom in the Science and Mathematics Building.

“First Florida is excited to be part of the forward thinking and innovative environment that TCC is developing by improving teaching and learning spaces on its main campus,” said Lister. “With the recent opening of our Appleyard Branch directly across from the campus, the partnership between the credit union and TCC continues to grow.”

In his comments, Lister noted that the budding relationship with TCC is a good fit for the credit union’s initiatives to support financial literacy, especially among younger community members.

Lister was accompanied by Robert Bull, a member of the credit union’s board of directors, along with Ruthellen Caldwell, regional branch director, and Tallahassee-based staff Debbie Pelletier, Richard Abt, Steve Adams, Matt Collier and Beau Berry.

The TCC Foundation has been working with groups and individuals throughout the community to support classroom renovations and has already identified donors for 34 of the 50 classrooms targeted for renovations.
