Getting Ready for Your Web-Based Course

Welcome to the Center for Distance Learning!  We are thrilled that you are interested in taking web-based courses at Tallahassee Community College.  This brief tutorial will provide you with information concerning technology requirements and learning strategies necessary for you to succeed in a web-based course. To begin the tutorial, choose from the menu on the right.

NOTE: New Distance Learning Requirement:

As a new distance learning student at TCC, you will need to successfully complete CDL-STU008, Introduction to Distance Learning, before registering for your web-based courses. Introduction to Distance Learning is a non-credit workshop with no charge for tuition that will help you succeed right from the start as a Tallahassee Community College distance learning student. You will learn skills such as how to access your course materials, communicate with classmates and your instructor, submit homework, take tests, and much more. Some of the college policies and procedures also will be reviewed.

The workshop is facilitated over a 5 day period.  You will be required to complete at least one Unit activity per day, and you should expect to spend about an hour on each lesson.  Feel free to work ahead in the workshop if you would like to complete it in less than 5 days. For instructions on registering for the workshop, click here (pdf 530.87 kB) .  If you have questions about the workshop, please email cdl@tcc.fl.edu or call (850) 201-9400 .
