Programs and Courses

The Division of Healthcare Professions offers programs that prepare students for high demand careers in health care. Choosing a program is an important decision. Explore our department web pages to learn more.

Dental Health

Tallahassee Community College's Dental Health Programs provide excellence in teaching and service to the community. The basic premise reflects a belief that each individual has dignity and worth and the right to higher education for the general welfare of society. The formal process provides students with cognitive and psychomotor skills, and a value system that subscribes to the commitment of providing quality dental health care to patients.

Diagnostic Medical Sonography

Sonographers perform technical procedures necessary to produce diagnostic sonograms, provide quality patient care, and are committed to professionalism and life long learning. They are employed by hospitals, clinics, and private diagnostic practices.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Technology

Completion of the EMT Applied Technology Diploma Program at Tallahassee Community College qualifies students to sit for the registry exam as an EMT. Once licensed, you may wish to launch your career at this point, or you may wish to build on this foundation by proceeding to apply for paramedic training to become a registered paramedic.

Nursing

The Tallahassee Community College Nursing program began in 1970 and graduated its first class of fourteen (14) student nurses in 1972. TCC graduate nurses are hired locally as well as throughout the State and nation. As a Registered Nurse (RN) you will have numerous career opportunities. The RN provides care to patients in various settings such as hospitals, rehabilitation centers, nursing homes, home health, public health, school health, and hospice end-of-life care. TCC Nursing Program graduates earn an Associate of Science (A.S.) degree. The Nursing program is offered at the Ghazvini Center for Healthcare Education.

Radiologic Technology

Upon successful completion of the six-semester full scope of practice program, students are eligible to apply for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification examination in radiography. Registry-eligible graduates have the opportunity for employment in hospitals, doctors' offices, outpatient centers or other health care facilities.

Respiratory Care

Respiratory therapists provide assessment, diagnostic evaluation, treatment and care of patients with breathing disorders. Respiratory therapists have special expertise in artificial ventilation, resuscitation, and airway management. They care for patients in a variety of settings, such as the emergency room, nursery and intensive care units. Respiratory therapists work in hospitals, home health agencies, nursing homes, and physician offices.
