Scheduling Library Presentations

Library Guides & Handouts ~ Library Research Days ~ Sample Presentation Descriptions ~ When to Schedule Presentation ~ Workshops & Tours

Library Instruction and Tours.

The librarians conduct general library orientation tours for classes and class presentations at the request of faculty members. Day, evening, and Saturday class instruction provide flexible schedules to meet the needs of faculty and students. Handouts and other special materials are produced for specific classes to ensure that students are able to successfully complete their assignments. The Student Library Guide  is available online. LINCCWeb online databases and library catalog, as well as Internet, can be demonstrated on a large screen for the entire class to view. Call (850) 201-8383 to schedule your class. Workshops are offered each semester and schedules are distributed on campus, listed on the Workshop  web page, on TCC's Campus Events calendar, as well as on the TCCLibraryblog.

E-mails sent in for Library Instruction Booking Request should include the following information:

  3. Course Title or designation
  4. Number of students registered for the class
  5. Time class meets (weekday, begin and end time)
  6. Date (month and day) requested 1st choice
  7. Date (month and day) requested 2nd choice

Library Guides & Handouts

TCC Library has many publications and handouts to assist students in conducting research. Those aides include

and dozens more. Many library publications are available from this site, and most can be found on display racks on second floor. Request multiple copies (classroom quantities up to 200) of any library handouts by calling us at 201-8383 or e-mail library@tcc.fl.edu

Library Research Days

Schedule a day or two for your students to come to the TCC Library for a class period and use library resources including reference encyclopedias, journals and computers for online database research.
The open access Reference area has 54 computers available with database and Internet access.
The Computer Lab, Room 236 in the Library, has 14 computers with TCC network access. Call 201-8383 to book the lab for your class.
For general reference area class time, we recommend booking your group to avoid a "traffic jam" on the computers with another class. There is no limit on scheduling classes for general reference use.
Note: Students using databases on or off-campus must have an activated TCC ID Card. Lab student login requires e-account username and password.

When To Schedule a Library Presentation

Reserve your time as soon as possible to insure getting the dates you want. The best dates for scheduling your class to attend a presentation is when they will actually begin research on an assigned project. As you plan your syllabus for the semester, book us for a presentation to coincide with giving the research assignment to the students. Have the presentation too early in the semester, and students forget the search techniques recommended in the presentation and lose track of their handouts. Schedule too late, and students may have already become frustrated, changing topics or settle for using mediocre resources.
