TCC Baseball sweeps pair from St. Petersburg

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (February 19, 2012) - FCSAA No. 3 Tallahassee Community College swept a doubleheader from St. Petersburg College on Sunday afternoon, winning by scores of 7-2 and 6-4. Tallahassee has now won six straight games to improve to 11-3. 

In the nightcap, Tallahassee watched a 4-0 lead disappear before scoring twice in its final at-bat to claim the 6-4 victory. 

St. Petersburg erased a four-run deficit by scoring three runs in the fifth and one more in the sixth. In the bottom of the sixth, however, Steven Brown and Matt Duval reached on St. Petersburg errors, and both runners later scored on Michael Arencibia's two-out single. 

Arencibia drove in three runs and had two of Tallahassee's four hits in game two. St. Petersburg outhit Tallahassee, 11-4, but committed four errors. 

Hayden Jordan pitched a scoreless seventh to pick up his fourth game and preserve the victory for Jared Stanley, who recorded the final out in the top of the sixth. 

In the opener, Tallahassee trailed 2-1 before scoring three runs in the fourth and three more in the fifth en route to the 7-2 victory. 

Cameron Tewksbury pitched six innings of three-hit ball to earn the victory. 

Tyler York drove in two runs and Trent Higginbothem scored twice for the Eagles. 

Tallahassee begins a four-game road trip on Tuesday when it travels to Florida State College at Jacksonville for  4 p.m. game.
