Center for Teaching Excellence

Welcome to Tallahassee Community College's Center for Teaching Excellence. The CTE is a new initiative at TCC and we proudly opened our doors in August 2004. Our mission is to encourage and facilitate faculty endeavors in the art, science and scholarship of teaching in order to optimize student learning. The programs we offer are designed to promote excellence in teaching through collaboration, professional enrichment opportunities, and dedicated resources. The Center serves both full-time and adjunct faculty both individually and through a variety of formal programs. The CTE works closely with the Center for Instructional Technology which provides technology training and support for instructional technology in the classroom and distance learning courses.

About the Center for Teaching Excellence

Greetings and welcome to Tallahassee Community College's Center for Teaching Excellence! We are excited to collaborate with TCC faculty members and learning center staff to promote and advance excellence in teaching and learning. All of the programs at the Center for Teaching Excellence are guided by outstanding faculty leaders providing peer-to-peer collaboration for promoting excellence and innovation in teaching and learning.

Community Connections

One of the most exciting aspects of working at a community college is the connections we get to make with those in our tri-county service area. This year CTE is working on the Westminster Oaks Lecture series and preparing to implement Showcase TCC.

CTE Board of Directors

The CTE is fortunate to have a dedicated and innovative Advisory Board of Directors who support the Center and its programs, provide leadership within the divisions, as well as guidance to the CTE Director in the development and implementation of programs. The Board consists of faculty members from each of the six divisions. In addition, a learning center staff member, a third-year faculty member, and a teaching award winner serve on the Board. One of the Board members serves as the chair. The CTE Board of Directors assists the CTE Director with policy decisions and process of programs.

Events, Workshops & Presentations

The Center offers a variety of workshops, events and seminars focused on enhancing the teaching and learning environment.

Grants and Funding

In an effort to support innovative projects, the Center provides easily accessible grants and funds for faculty and learning center staff members. The mini-grants are awarded in the amount of $1500. We can also provide assistance if you are writing a grant.

Presentations and Awards

One of the goals of the Center is to recognize excellence and innovation in teaching. Every year, faculty members from each division are nominated and selected for a variety of teaching awards. We invite you to take a look at the outstanding efforts of our faculty on the Teaching Excellence Awards page. The Center continues to look for ways to recognize faculty for their outstanding work in the classroom. Let us know about your successes in the classroom and we'll toot your horn! In addition, many of our TCC faculty members present at national, regional, state and local conferences as well as other events. Here you will find details for these presentations. If you've presented at a conference, send us the information so we can post it for you.

Seminars and Programs

The New Faculty Seminars, Academy of Teaching, Learning, and Success and the Adjunct Faculty Advancement Program are just a few programs available to support faculty teaching.
