Center for Teaching Excellence
Welcome to Tallahassee Community College's Center for Teaching Excellence. We proudly opened our doors in August 2004 with a mission to encourage and facilitate faculty endeavors in the art, science and scholarship of teaching in order to optimize student learning. The programs we offer are designed to promote excellence in teaching through collaboration, professional enrichment opportunities, and dedicated resources. The Center serves full-time and adjunct faculty both individually and through a variety of formal programs. The CTE works closely with the Center for Instructional Technology which provides technology training and support for instructional technology in the classroom and distance learning courses.
About the Center for Teaching Excellence
We are excited to collaborate with TCC faculty members and learning center staff to promote and advance excellence in teaching and learning. All of the programs at the Center for Teaching Excellence are guided by outstanding faculty leaders providing peer-to-peer collaboration for promoting excellence and innovation in teaching and learning.
Events, Workshops & Presentations
The Center offers a variety of workshops, events and seminars focused on enhancing the teaching and learning environment.
Grants and Funding
In an effort to support innovative projects, the Center provides easily accessible grants and funds for faculty and learning center staff members by offering mini-grants and faculty fellows. CTE also serves as a clearing house for other internal and external funding opportunities.
Presentations, Publications and Awards
One of the goals of the Center is to recognize excellence and innovation in teaching. Every year, faculty members from each division are nominated and selected for teaching awards. We invite you to take a look at the outstanding efforts of our faculty on the Teaching Excellence Awards page. The Center continues to look for ways to recognize faculty for their outstanding work in the classroom. Let us know about your successes in the classroom and we'll toot your horn! In addition, many of our TCC faculty members present at national, regional, state and local conferences as well as other events. Here you will find details for these presentations. If you've presented at a conference, send us the information so we can post it for you.
Seminars and Programs
The New Faculty Seminars, Academy of Teaching, Learning, and Success and the Adjunct Faculty Advancement Program are just a few programs available to support faculty teaching. Teaching Squares, a great way to share teaching, meet colleagues and get new ideas about teaching and learning, is the newest program CTE is offering. Be one of the first to get involved in Teaching Squares.
Teaching and Learning Resources
Join our Speakers' Bureau, Faculty Learning Circles, or our Open Classroom List to help you enhance your teaching skills. CTE now offers online professional development opportunities, the first of which is about Learning Outcomes.
