Faculty Fellows for 2012-2013 will be announced by April 16, 2012.
Selection criteria and criteria to be used if choices must be made from among valid applications:
1. The quality of the proposed plans and probable benefit to the College will be judged according to the guidelines established and adopted by the Board of Directors. To maximize objectivity, this step will be a blind review.
2. Priority shall be given to those applicants who have never received a faculty fellowship.
3. Equitable distribution will be made among academic divisions to the extent possible given acceptable proposals from each area.
4. Priority shall be given to applicants with the longest full-time service to the College.
5. A fellowship will not be awarded to an applicant who has received a fellowship within the previous two years.
6. Current Center for Teaching, Learning and Leadership Board members are not eligible to apply for a faculty fellowship during their time of service to the Board.
Procedure:
1. Recommendations from the Center's Board's blind review (based upon the above criteria) shall be submitted to the Director of the Center for Teaching, Learning and Leadership who will then forward recommendations to the Provost.
2. The Provost shall submit the recommendations to the President for approval in accordance with Florida Statute.
3. The President is the final authority for fellowship approval.
Conditions of the Faculty Fellowship:
1. A faculty member receiving a faculty fellowship will teach one class (approximately 20% of the regular course load) and be reassigned 80% to work on the fellowship activities. The faculty member may elect to teach a traditional day or night class, an accelerated class, or a web-based class. TV and SPI classes are not considered part of a faculty member's full-time workload and, therefore, are not eligible for the 20% commitment.
2. A faculty member on a faculty fellowship will not be expected to perform any other college-related activities including committee work or advising.
3. Faculty members in the DROP Program or Phased Retirement Program are not eligible for a faculty fellowship.
4. Any faculty member on a faculty fellowship shall not accept new outside employment and shall not be eligible for extra assignments during the term of the fellowship. ("New" outside employment will be subject to interpretation by the Provost, if needed.)
5. Two informal oral reports on the progress of the fellowship activities shall be provided to the CTLL Board during the semester of the fellowship. Reports will be presented at mutually agreed upon dates and times.
6. A report, including a workshop or forum presentation (if applicable) offered through the Center for Teaching, Learning and Leadership, regarding the fellowship activities shall be made no later than midterm of the semester following the return to full teaching responsibilities.
7. Implementation of the plan (if applicable) shall occur within the first year following completion of the fellowship.
8. Any deviation from the approved plan during the course of the fellowship must be approved by the Board of the Center for Teaching, Learning and Leadership and the VP for Academic Affairs.
