TCC United Way Campaign
Sometimes it can feel overwhelming to read the newspaper—the health care crisis, homelessness, illiteracy, hunger, and abuses (mental, physical and drug). These problems can appear so big, so insurmountable; one may feel like there is nothing that can be done. But the challenges we face are an opportunity to make a positive impact in the world, and starting October 11 TCC can do something about it.
Emphasizin g the “community” in Tallahassee Community College
Working together, we can change lives. That’s already TCC’s business—we change lives through education, in the classroom and online. But beginning October 11, TCC’s United Way Campaign is going to change lives in a different kind of way. We’re supporting the United Way of the Big Bend (UWBB)—supporting the community that supports us.
Last year, the TCC raised over $12,000—and that’s good—but we think we can do better. We’ve set two goals for the 2010 campaign. Our first goal is to have 100% participation from TCC employees. The amount of your contribution isn’t as important as showing you care. Our second goal is to exceed last year’s total and we know TCC is capable of going above and beyond to reach $20,000.
What you can do to help
We want to make it easy and fun for TCC’s faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends to DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. Basically, we want to help you help others! That’s why, in addition to asking for donations, we are planning events that will be fun (and often tasty) to attend that will generate funds for the campaign.

Who are we helping?
The United Way of the Big Bend supports a coalition of charitable organizations and agencies that serve all eight counties of the Big Bend: Franklin, Gadsden, Jefferson, Leon, Liberty, Madison, Taylor, and Wakulla. Visit the UWBB’s site for a list of certified agencies.
Make a pledge
TCC’s goal for the Campaign is 100% participation from faculty and staff. Pledge forms will be mailed out the week of October 11, or you can get your form online (pdf 267.35 kB) . Pledge forms should be submitted to Vice President Sharon Jefferson, 2010 United Way Campaign Chair, Student Union 202. Your pledge can be made through a payroll deduction or a one-time contribution. Payroll deductions will begin with the January 2011 paycheck. One-time contributions can be made via cash, check or credit card. These will be processed within 5 business days. No amount is too small. Your contribution is greatly valued and will go a long way towards helping our community.
