The Big Read Program underway at TCC

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Tallahassee Community College is encouraging its students, faculty and staff to pick up a book and read during the month of February. TCC, in partnership with the LeRoy Collins Leon County Public Library, is participating in The Big Read, a national initiative created by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA).

TCC announces event lineup for Black History Month celebration

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Tallahassee Community College’s celebration of Black History Month began last week with the ninth annual unveiling of what is now known as the Cherry Alexander African-American History Month Calendar. The official celebration, however, runs throughout the month of February and the College will offer a number of opportunities to celebrate the accomplishments of African-Americans who have made significant contributions worldwide.

TCC student studies medicine in Peru

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – No roads lead into Iquitos, Peru, located near the headwaters of the Amazon River. Visitors to the city of 400,000 must arrive by plane or boat. Unfortunately, insects have no trouble making their way into Iquitos and bringing tropical parasites and other microorganisms with them. Hence, the city’s residents face a continuous battle with infectious diseases such as malaria, hepatitis A, leishmania, dengue and typhoid.

TCC Career Services provides career opportunities for students

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Gearing up for its sixth Career Expo, Tallahassee Community College’s Career Center is providing a job fair to once again give students the opportunity to meet potential employers. TCC's Black History Month Celebration continues with political forum

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Tallahassee Community College's Black Student Union (BSU), along with the College's African-American History Month Planning Committee, will host a political forum from 1:30-3:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 12.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – For the tenth consecutive year, Tallahassee Community College students have received awards in the annual Florida Collegiate Honors Council (FCHC) statewide writing contest. Awards for this contest are based on scholarship, creativity, style and correct standard English.

Tallahassee Southern Model UN returns to Florida Capitol

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - For the second year in a row, the Tallahassee Southern Model United Nations (TSMUN) will hold its annual conference at the Florida Capitol. The conference, scheduled for Friday, February 13, will mark the 13th year of this highly successful and educational high school conference.

TCC students participate in Dental Health Awareness event

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Tallahassee Community College (TCC) Dental Health students had the opportunity to practice their profession during an event established for National Children’s Dental Health Month at the Dr. B.L. Perry Jr. Branch Library. Sharon Edwards, Kelly Prebyl and Emily Timmons, all students from TCC’s two-year dental hygiene program, gave cleaning demonstrations and addressed basic dental hygiene issues to children and parents in attendance.

TCC Fire Academy celebrates 100 percent pass rate for fourth graduating class

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The 4th class from the Fire Academy at Tallahassee Community College is celebrating the unprecedented feat achieving a 100 percent pass rate for both the written and practical skills exam. 100 percent of the graduates were successful on the state licensure exams.
