TheatreTCC! opens 2009-10 season with area’s first licensed production of “Rent”

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Tallahassee Community College’s TheatreTCC! opens its 2009-10 season at 8 p.m., Thursday, October 8 and what a premiere it will be. When the Turner Auditorium curtain goes up one week from tonight, those in attendance will witness a piece of Tallahassee history – the area’s first licensed production of the Broadway hit musical “Rent.”

New exhibit to debut at TCC Fine Art Gallery

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Tallahassee Community College’s Fine Art Gallery will unveil “Panhandle Landscapes” on Thursday, October 8.

TCC holds discussion forums on "Rent"

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The hit Broadway musical "Rent" is currently playing at Tallahassee Community College - Tallahassee's first-ever licensed production of the Tony Award winner. "Rent," however, deals with some very important social issues, and, to foster academic and intellectual exploration of these issues, TCC is offering three discussion forums.

International Photo Calendars now on sale

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The photographical expertise of Tallahassee Community College students, faculty, staff and alumni was on display Wednesday, October 14 when the College’s Office of International Student Services unveiled its annual International Photo Calendar.

DOJ awards two grants to TCC’s Florida Public Safety Institute

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Tallahassee Community College’s Florida Public Safety Institute (FPSI) has received awards from the United States Department of Justice totaling $300,000 to continue support for criminal intelligence training offered by the FPSI’s Pat Thomas Law Enforcement Academy.

TCC Career Expo provides career opportunities for students

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - “Come with a purpose!” That was the advice from Tallahassee Community College's Career Services staff to students, alumni and members of the community that will attend TCC’s upcoming career fair. Career Services will host the Fall 2009 Career Expo on Wednesday, October 21, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the TCC Student Union Ballroom.

TCC to hold Fall Blood Drive October 21

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Tallahassee Community College, in partnership with the Southeast Community Blood Center, will hold its annual Fall Blood Drive on Wednesday, October 21.

TCC continues participation in Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange Program

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – In 2007, Tallahassee Community College first participated in the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX) Program, a scholarship program with a strong focus on cultural exchange between the United States and Germany. A positive experience prompted TCC to enhance its participation in the program.

TCC seeks used cell phones for fundraising program

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Tallahassee Community College and Havana Elementary School are participating in Motorola’s Race to RecycleTM program. The company will recycle donated cell phones, thereby protecting the environment by preventing lead, mercury and cadmium from leaking into local water supplies. The proceeds of the fund-raiser will be split between the TCC STEM Center and Havana Elementary School. The schools may raise up to $21,000.

TCC announces Workskills Workshops

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Tallahassee Community College’s Center for Workforce Development announces a new WorkSkills Workshops program that delivers professional development training and the latest technology skills in a fast track format designed so that new skills may be used immediately. The first series of workshops begin October 29 and include Resume Writing, Interview Skills, Job Search and The Interview.

U.S. Army Research Office Awards $1.7 Million to TCC for Manufacturing Training Center

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Tallahassee Community College has received $1.7 million from the U.S. Army Research Office (ARO) to support a new Advanced Manufacturing Training Center, which, when completed, will provide job training and foster job creation in manufacturing and related cutting-edge technologies.

TCC Receives $1.2 Million Award for 21st Century Community Learning Center at Shanks Middle School in Quincy

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida Department of Education has awarded $1,275,600 to Tallahassee Community College in order to establish a 21st Century Community Learning Center (CCLC) at James A. Shanks Middle School in Quincy to improve student success.
