TCC selects Karen Moore to chair Presidential Search Committee

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (July 8, 2010) – Tallahassee Community College’s Presidential Search Committee, on Thursday, elected Karen Moore, a member of the College’s District Board of Trustees, to lead the search for TCC’s eighth president.

Moore, who recently completed a term as Board chairwoman, will lead the 13-member committee that includes college faculty, administration, classified staff and student government, as well as a member of the TCC Foundation’s Board of Directors and the heads of the chambers of commerce in Leon, Gadsden and Wakulla counties – the three counties that make up TCC’s service district.

Moore was appointed to TCC’s Board of Trustees in 2007 by Governor Charlie Crist. The president of Moore Consulting Group, a Tallahassee-based public relations and advertising firm, Moore previously served as president of the TCC Foundation Board, chairing the College’s first capital campaign.

During Thursday’s search committee meeting, it was also announced that the College would begin reviewing applications on August 10. During the next Presidential Search Committee meeting, scheduled for August 20, the candidate pool will be narrowed to ten.

By the College’s September 20 search committee meeting, TCC will have narrowed its search to five or six applicants.

TCC hopes to name its new president in November with a starting date of January 1, 2011.
