Student Judicial Affairs

Judicial Affairs deals with students who violate the TCC Student Conduct Code. As an integral part of the educational mission of the College, the disciplinary process is seen as a tool for guiding and teaching rather than punishment. Mediation is also provided for both students and faculty.

The TCC Student Code of Conduct defines hazing as an act which endangers the mental or physical health or safety of a student, or which destroys or removes public or private property, for the purpose of initiation, admission into, affiliation with, or as a condition for continued membership in, a group or organization. Hazing will not be tolerated at TCC and anyone found to be involved in any act of hazing is grounds for immediate suspension. Your safety as a student is of the utmost importance. If you have been hazed or know of another student that has fallen victim to hazing, please notify the Judicial Affairs Office and/or the TCC Police Department. Thank you.

Guidelines for dealing with disruptive behavior

Along with faculty and students, the Campus Life Judicial Affairs Office assumes responsibility to help create and maintain a campus environment that supports effective instruction and enhances student learning.

In a community of learners, it is expected that students will conduct themselves in an orderly manner. However, when student misconduct does occur, corrective action needs to be taken. These guidelines are designed to help faculty members assess disruptive student behavior and determine the appropriate course of action.

Guidelines for preventing disruptive behavior

As a student at TCC, it is important for you to understand the active role you play in promoting positive conditions for learning and preventing student disruptions. It is expected that you will work collaboratively with faculty, staff and peers to (1) help create positive conditions for learning, (2) promote high ethical and moral standards of conduct, and (3) encourage adherence to the Student Code of Conduct.

Faculty and staff, please fill out the report and send a copy to the Student Judicial Affairs Office, located in Room 154 of the Student Union.
