High School Dual Enrollment Program

Students who have not graduated from high school but are interested in taking college courses that could be applied toward their high school graduation are considered dual enrolled students. The TCC High School Dual Enrollment Program offers high school juniors and seniors  the opportunity to earn college credit before high school graduation.

Before considering dual enrollment, students are encouraged to visit FACTS.org to learn more about dual enrollment eligibility, credits, course transferability, and more.

Important: Registration for an academic course indicates initiation of an official college transcript. A transcript is a permanent educational record, and cannot be removed or changed. Any courses for which a student is enrolled after the add/drop deadline will appear on the official college transcript along with the earned grade.

What is the criteria for the high school dual enrollment program at Tallahassee Community College?

How much does dual enrollment cost?

TCC waives all tuition and instructional fees for all courses through the high school dual enrollment program. Students are responsible for books, materials and transportation to the TCC Campus. Dual enrollment students should consult with their high school guidance counselor regarding textbooks for dual enrollment courses.

What courses are covered by high school dual enrollment?

  1. Typically, students participating in dual enrollment take classes that will satisfy their high school graduation requirements while also counting as college credit toward a TCC Associate in Arts degree (AA) such as English, humanities, math, history, social sciences, natural sciences, health and computer literacy. Students can also take courses that pertain to their major area(s) of interest.
  2. Only college credit classes will be considered part of the dual enrollment program. This excludes any non-credit or preparatory (remedial) courses. All physical education activity courses are also excluded from dual enrollment.
  3. Students can enroll for up to 11 credit hours of dual enrollment credit, as approved by the student's high school guidance counselor.
  4. Remember: All courses must be approved in writing from the student's high school guidance counselor. A new permission form must be submitted EACH semester that you are dual enrolled at TCC.
  5. All students participating in Dual Enrollment classes through TCC are considered TCC students whether the classes are taught at TCC or on the high school campus. As such, students are protected by FERPA (the Federal Educational Right to Privacy Act) and their records cannot be discussed with anyone. If a student wishes to waive this right, they must come in to the Enrollment Services and Student Success office and complete the Release of Information form and have it registered in their file.
