Home School Dual Enrollment Program
Students who do not attend a high school but receive instruction at home are considered home-school students. The TCC Home School Dual Enrollment program offers home school juniors and seniors the opportunity to earn college credit before high school graduation. Home schooled juniors and seniors must be registered with their county school board as home schooled students in order to participate in the program.
Before considering dual enrollment, students are encouraged to visit FACTS.org to learn more about dual enrollment eligibility, credits, course transferability, and more.
What are the criteria for the homeschool dual enrollment program at Tallahassee Community College?
- You must have attained a status equivalent to that of a public high school junior and be at least 15 years old prior to your first semester of enrollment at TCC. You must provide an anticipated high school graduation date and you may not change that date once it is entered into the TCC system. You remain eligible for dual enrollment for six semesters from the time you begin but no more than two years from the date you originally enroll. Further, you may not continue dual enrollment classes beyond your high school graduation date.
- You must submit an application for dual enrollment to TCC. The application must be on file prior to the student taking the TCC college placement test.
- You must have qualifying SAT, ACT or FPERT (Florida Post-Secondary Education Readiness Test) scores in all areas.
Where do I start?
- Complete the TCC Dual Enrollment application located at www.gototcc.com. Please remember that this application must be processed before students can take the FPERT (Florida Post-Secondary Education Readiness Test) .
- Submit SAT or ACT test scores that are less than two years old. If you haven't taken an SAT or ACT, you can take TCC's placement test (FPERT) after your application is on file . See eligible test scores below.
- For FPERT testing information, contact the TCC Testing Center.
- Provide TCC a copy of the student's birth certificate.
- Submit the Dual Enrollment/Early Admissions form for Home Schooled Students (pdf 110.57 kB) , filled out completely, signed by the county home school official and the parent.
- Provide a completed Home School Dual Enrollment Individual Articulation Agreement (pdf 549.32 kB) . This agreement outlines the requirements and parameters of the home school dual enrollment program.
- Attend a mandatory orientation for ALL new dual enrollment students. You will be notified by mail of the orientation date.
- Return all forms to the TCC Dual Enrollment Coordinator when meeting with coordinator to enroll in the program.

How do I register for my classes once my enrollment materials have been submitted?
Once you have been accepted into the program, you will need to meet with the Dual Enrollment Adviser to register for classes. ALL dual enrollment students are required to meet with an adviser each semester to register for classes.
An appointment is preferred, however walk-ins are welcome.
How much does dual enrollment cost?
TCC waives tuition and matriculation fees for all courses through the high school/home school dual enrollment program. Students are responsible for books, materials and transportation to the TCC Campus.
How long can I take dual enrollment classes?
Home school students are eligible to dual enroll with TCC for two calendar years (six consecutive college semesters) from the time they enter the program. Eligibility for the dual enrollment program expires two years from the original date of enrollment at which point students must matriculate to a regular degree-seeking status to continue taking classes at TCC.
What courses are covered by high school dual enrollment?
- Typically, students participating in dual enrollment take classes that will satisfy their high school graduation requirements while also counting as college credit toward a TCC Associate in Arts degree (AA) such as English, humanities, math, history, social sciences, natural sciences, health and computer literacy.
- Only college credit level classes will be considered part of the dual enrollment program. This excludes any non-credit or preparatory (remedial) courses. All physical education activity courses are also excluded from dual enrollment.
How many dual enrollment courses can I take each semester?
Home school students are restricted from being enrolled at TCC full-time. Full-time TCC enrollment is considered 12 credit hours, so home school students can take up to 11 credit hours per semester. The majority of TCC liberal studies classes are 3 credit hours, so most home school students will take 1-3 dual enrollment courses per semester.
TCC EARLY ADMISSION PROGRAM
Upon entering the equivalent of the senior year of high school, home school students are eligible to become part of the TCC Early Admission Program. Through Early Admission, students can enroll full-time at TCC. The Early Admission Program is limited to two semesters (which would be defined as the senior year). Upon completion of the second semester of Early Admission, students are required to provide proof of graduation from the home school program, and the student would become a degree-seeking student at TCC. Dual enrollment eligibility would end at that time.
