Do I have to take the CPT test if I submit ACT scores?
If your ACT scores on all sections of the exam are 17(English), 19(Math), 18(Reading) or above, then you are exempt from the CPT test. However, if your scores are 16(English), 18(Math), 17(Reading) or below, you will have to take our placement test prior to registering for classes. The placement test is called the CPT (college placement test) and it is offered everyday on campus, no appointment is necessary. As soon as you arrive, be sure to check in with the International Student Services Office and we will give you a pass to take the exam. If you take the ACT again, we will use your best scores.

Do I have to take the CPT test if I submit SAT scores?
If your SAT scores on both sections of the exam are 440 or above, then you are exempt from the CPT test. However, if your scores in Verbal and Math are below 440 (Example 438), even though they are very close to being exempt, you will have to take our placement test prior to being able to register for classes. The placement test is called the CPT (college placement test) and is offered everyday on campus, no appointment necessary. As soon as you arrive, be sure to check in with the International Student Services Office and we will give you a pass to take the exam. Download practice/sample exams.
If you take the SAT again, we will use your best score. Therefore, if you score higher than 440 on both sections, then you will be exempt from taking the CPT test. However, if the Verbal score is between 440 and 490, you will have to write an essay to determine which level of English you need. If the verbal score is over 490, you do not need to take the essay portion of the test.
