International Health Insurance
International students on an F-1 and J-1 visas at TCC are required to be enrolled in a health insurance program to matriculate and to continue enrollment in college. Compliance with this requirement must be met before registration for classes. Tallahassee Community College has endorsed Insurance for Students in Ft. Lauderdale, FL as our insurance gatekeeper agency. The policy is a Non-Renewable One Year Term policy where the premium changes every year. Insurance brochures are available detailing the benefits and the coverage. The current plan for 2005-2006 is underwritten by The Chesapeake Life Insurance Company and the Preferred Provider Network is the Beech Street Corporation.
Students having another insurance need to pick up an Insurance Waiver Form and have their insurance company fill it out and send it to Mr. Craig Bode in Insurance for Students in order to make sure policies are comparable.
It is advisable that students be proactive and find a physician in the network who is taking new patients instead of waiting until they get sick in order to visit a physician. A list of physicians in the provider's network as well as other important information can be found at www.firststudent.com. For questions and answers, please call:
