Distance Learning Support Services
The Student Success Center provides continued support to TCC distance learning students through advising, correspondence and special outreach programs.
Students enrolled in distance learning courses have a greater level of responsibility than those enrolled in traditional face-to-face class offerings. Distance learning students are required to follow written instructions, complete assignments without reminders and seek assistance from their instructor(s) as necessary. Students who participate in TCC distance learning courses should have the following skills:
- Self motivation, self discipline and the ability to work independently
- Good time management
- Strong reading and research skills
- The ability to understand and evaluate required readings
- The ability to analyze and synthesize information
Distance learning courses offer many advantages for students as they are convenient, flexible and require little travel. TV, WEB and SPI course offerings can be excellent options for students who are comfortable working independently. Please speak with a advisor before registering for a distance learning course and be sure to familiarize yourself with all available resources, including TCC's main distance learning web page.
