Exemption Credit by Certification

Upon submission of the appropriate certificate, students may be awarded a specified number of credit hours toward a degree program. Exemption credit will be awarded only for certificates issued within five years of the date such exemption is requested. Students must be enrolled in the degree program indicated on the exemption chart. Exemption credit will be awarded only after successful completion of nine credit hours of coursework at TCC in the specified degree program.

Exemption Credit for Individual Courses

Students who produce original documentation for any of the following industry-recognized certifications can receive credit for the indicated TCC course.

Technology Resources

Exemption Credit by Examination - CGS1000

To give TCC students the opportunity to exempt the CGS1000 course or to satisfy prerequisite requirements for computer technology courses. The credit is awarded as three (3) elective credit hours with a grade of “S” (Satisfactory) toward a degree or certificate. Note: The exam may only be attempted a maximum of two (2) times. Passing score is 70.

Exemption Credit by Examination - CGS1060

To give TCC students the opportunity to exempt the CGS1060 course by demonstrating their digital literacy skills. Students who pass IC³ Fast Track assessment will earn 3 elective credits. IC³ Fast Track is used to gauge digital literacy skills of college students. Note: The exam may only be attempted a maximum of two (2) times. Passing score is 800.
