Your TCC Orientation Experience

Thank you for making Tallahassee Community College your college of choice!

As a First Time College Student or a Transfer Student at TCC, you are bound to have questions about your TCC experience. That's why our orientation is designed to help you get answers, as well as provide you with information about our campus resources, programs and services available to you.  You will only need to complete ONE orientation experience as a First Time in College Student or as a Transfer Student to TCC. 

Students Entering TCC Summer 2019

Students Who Graduated PRIOR to Spring 2019 can register beginning March 25, 2019. Online appointments begin April 10th, 2019.

Students Who Will be Graduating Spring 2019 - Before you can register for classes you MUST:

  • Schedule a MANDATORY ADVISING MEETING dated AFTER high school graduation and submit your official (i.e., sealed and unopened) high school transcript showing graduation date.

  • Register for a June Express Orientation between June 17-21 to start for the June Express term on June 25.  Note:  High school graduation or a GED is required to enroll at TCC.  So May Main/Express sessions are not available to students graduating Spring 2019 because classes begin before high school graduations.

Students Entering TCC Fall 2019

Students Who Graduated Prior to Spring 2019 can register beginning May 9, 2019. Online appointments begin May 15, 2019.

What You Should Know

New student orientation must be completed for both First-Time-In-College (FTIC) and Transfer Students.

Note, Transient students, non-degree seeking students, and returning students are not required to complete Orientation.  These students after completing any required Admissions Paperwork, may contact the TCC Online Advisor for advising Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for advising, if needed.

Before you can register for classes, You MUST schedule a Mandatory Advising Meeting dated AFTER high school graduation with the TCC Online Advisor at 850-201-8618 or, .

About Your Online Advising Appointment

During this appointment, you will speak with the TCC Online Academic Advisor who will review your online assignments and assist with first semester course registration.

Please allow 30-45 minutes for your new student mandatory orientation advising meeting.

To get started with TCC Orientation, complete the easy two-step process below.

1.   Registration

You will need to contact the TCC Online Advisor so that you may be placed into the online canvas orientation course.  Once registered for the orientation course, it will be available on Canvas within 2 hours.

Please know your TCC login information. You will need it to log into and complete orientation.

2.   Complete Online Orientation in Canvas

Online Orientation, located on Canvas, will take approximately one to two hours to complete. In order to pass, you must receive a grade of 100. You will need your TCC eAccount Username and Password to begin. Once you've completed the online orientation class; make sure that you contact the TCC Online Advisor to register for first semester classes.

Canvas Student Orientation (Optional)

If you are unfamiliar with Canvas and are interested in opting in to learn how to use the learning management system, please contact your TCC Online Advisor at (850) 201-8618 to you be registered for this training. 

Brief Description: Welcome to the Canvas Student Orientation! This course will give you a walk-through of the most important Canvas features that you will need to know to get you started in your journey as a successful TCC student. The Canvas Student Orientation is broken into four sections: (1) getting ready for an online environment, (2) Canvas basics, (3) working in Canvas, and (4) final assessment. Here you will learn how to access assignments, quizzes and exams, how to work in a discussion board, how to use the Canvas dashboard, how to access Canvas from a mobile device, and so much more!
