The Florida PERT Test

The Florida PERT test is a Postsecondary Education Readiness Test. It's a college placement exam used by colleges and universities in the state of Florida to determine what level of college courses in Math and English an applicant is adequately prepared for.

There are three sections on the PERT test – Math, Reading, and Writing.

The ACCUPLACER test is a web-based assessment tool to determine skills in Reading, Writing, and Math. It is untimed. Most students complete it in less than 90 minutes.

In the test of reading comprehension, you will answer multiple-choice questions about the meaning of a particular paragraph.

**Students who need to take the ACCUPLACER test need to follow certain steps to obtain a waiver from the TCC Testing Center in order to take the test and have the results sent to TCC. Click here to go to Proctored Testing on the TCC Testing Center webpage.

Scores must be received by TCC Admissions, evaluated and posted so that the student can work with his or her advisor to choose and enroll in the appropriate Math and English classes at TCC.

Placement test scores expire after two years, and typically the student may take the PERT test at TCC if their SAT/ACT scores are expired. Students who are not located in Florida can take the Accuplacer test.
