International Student Services

A student who is not a citizen or permanent resident of the United States will be considered an international student.

Admissions Steps

Before an I-20 can be issued, students must submit the following documentation in order to be admitted to TCC:

  • International Student Admissions Packet (pdf 193.76 kB)
  • Official transcripts, which must be evaluated by a credential evaluation service such as the World Education Services, Inc. or Josef Silny & Associates, Inc. Costs for these services must be borne by the student.
    • If applying as a beginning college student, please submit official high school or secondary education transcript evaluated as document-by-document.
    • If applying as a transfer student, please submit a course-by-course evaluation of college or university level transcript(s) if credit for these courses is to be given by TCC.
  • Official TOEFL report. If your native language is not English, a TOEFL score must be submitted with a required minimum score of 173 (computer-based), 500 (paper-based), or 61 (Internet-Based).

What's next?

The following requirements could be provided after students have arrived at TCC:

  • Proof of Health Insurance. All international students are required to enroll in an international health insurance program which includes Medical Evaluation and Repatriation before registration for classes is permitted. The College has contracted with Insurance for Students, Inc. (IFS) to ensure that coverage meets the minimum requirements.

Class Placement

Class registration will take place a day after the mandatory Orientation for International Students. Please submit the results of the placement test (CPT) to the international student advisor, who will assist you in determining what classes to take during your first semester at TCC.

English and reading placements are very important for international students. There are only two college preparatory English and reading classes for students whose first language is not English if college preparatory placement is indicated by the following CPT scores:

ENGLISH CPT READING CPT
EAP 0384 0-64 REA0001 0-49
EAP 0484 65-82 REA0002 50-82
