FCCAA Baseball Player/Pitcher of the Week

Player of the Week - Zack Prentice, Lake City

Lake City Community College’s Zack Prentice is this week’s FCCAA Baseball Player of the Week. Prentice, a sophomore from Auburn, N.Y., batted .750 (9-for-12) with three runs scored, two doubles, one home run, four RBI and a stolen base in four games. He had consecutive three-hit games vs. Santa Fe (April 23) and Central Florida (April 25) followed by a 2-for-4 effort in a victory over St. Johns River on April 26 that enabled the Timberwolves to take a one-game lead in the MFC race for second place heading into the final game of the regular season. Prentice batted safely in all four games last week.

Pitcher of the Week - Matt Gilson, Broward

Broward Community College’s Matt Gilson is this week’s FCCAA Pitcher of the Week. Gilson, a sophomore southpaw from Pembroke Pines, Fla., tossed a complete game shutout at FCCAA No. 6 Palm Beach in game one of the Southern Conference Tournament on April 26. Gilson walked none, allowed only six hits and struck out a season-high nine in the win.
