FCCAA Men's Basketball Player of the Week

Miklos Szabo, Broward

Broward Community College's Miklos Szabo is this week's FCCAA Men's Basketball Player of the Week. Szabo, a sophomore forward from Szeghalom, Hungary, posted four double-doubles and averaged 16.3 points, 16.0 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 2.3 steals and 2.8 blocks, leading the Seahawks to four victories, the Southern Conference Tournament Championship and a berth in the FCCAA Tournament. Against Brevard on February 18, he recorded 22 points, 21 rebounds, four assists and four steals in the team's 99-63 win. In the February 23 regular season finale against SoCon Champion Indian River, Szabo tallied 10 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks in BCC's 80-75 win. In the SoCon Tournament opener vs. Palm Beach, he scored 13 points, pulled down 15 rebounds and added three assists, three steals and two blocks. Finally, in the SoCon Tournament finale at Miami Dade on February 26, his 20-point, 18-rebound effort keyed Broward's 69-65 win, securing the Seahawks' first trip to March Madness since 2004.

  • Brandon Hickson, Central Florida - 19.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.0 steals, shot 86 percent from the floor in three games, leading CFCC to the Mid-Florida Tournament Championship and berth in the FCCAA Tournament
  • Mario Little, Chipola - 24.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.0 steal, 1.5 blocks, shot 66 percent from the floor in two games, leading Chipola to its 5th straight Panhandle Conference Championship
