Proctored Testing

Distance learning (web-based) courses require a proctored site for testing. Proctor services are only for students who live outside of the service area of Leon, Gadsden and Wakulla Counties.

About ProctorU

ProctorU is a proctoring service that allows students to take proctored exams at home, without having to travel to a testing center.

To use ProctorU, you'll need a web camera and a high-speed Internet connection. ProctorU assesses a fee for its services and may only be used to administer exams through an online interface (e.g., Canvas). It cannot be used to accommodate written exams.

Before You Register

Before you register with a proctor, ask the following questions:

  • What is your testing schedule or hours of operation?
  • What fees do you charge?
  • Can I take my tests here during midterms and finals? (Some testing centers have limited availability during midterms and finals.)
  • Does the proctor site administer both online and paper/pencil exams?

Note, All proctors must be established at the beginning of the semester. Failure to do so may result in missing your testing deadline, receiving an Incomplete grade for the course, or both.

Register

Carefully read and complete the Proctor Registration form, making sure to provide your name, student ID, phone number, email address, course, and instructor information.

If you need help selecting a pre-approved proctor, please contact the Testing Center at (850) 201-6440.

If there is not a pre-approved proctor in your area, complete the proctor approval process as follows:

  • Print a Proctor Registration Form and complete the student information.
  • Give the form to your proctor, and ask them to complete the proctor information.
  • The proctor must submit the form to the Testing Center via fax at (850) 201-8676 or email to dltestingcenter@tcc.fl.edu.
  • The Testing Center will evaluate the request and notify the student via email of the status.

Note, please allow 48 hours for processing proctor requests. Proctor requests will not be processed during midterms or finals weeks.

Proctored Testing for Other Institutions

Our testing center offers exam proctoring services for students who are taking courses with a different college.

In an effort to better serve students and instructors, as well as to accommodate our needs, we have made some changes to our policies. Please review the policies below:

Policies

1) All exam requests must be made to the Testing Center. Students will need to contact their home institution to make arrangements to have the test instructions submitted to the Testing Center.

2) Distance Learning testing for students attending other institutions is available at the following times (NOTE that testing hours have changed):

Mondays 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Tuesdays 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Wednesdays 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Thursdays 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Fridays 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Exams are administered by appointment only. TCC must be in receipt of the exam(s), prior to scheduling an appointment and please allow, at minimum, 24-hour notice for scheduling. Walk-in service is not available.

3) The Distance Learning testing fee is $25 per course, per semester. A $25.00 fee is due for each course, regardless of the number of tests required for the course. Note that this fee must be paid, even if you are also enrolled as a TCC student or if you have attended TCC in the past.

4) In order to pay the fee, please come to the TCC Testing Center, located in the Fine & Performing Arts Bldg, Rm. 208, to pick up a Test Authorization Form. The form must be picked up in person; it is not online.

The payment will be made to the Cashier’s Office (second floor of the Student Union Building), then return to the Testing Center with the form and the receipt. Note that this fee must be paid PRIOR to testing.  Please arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment time for processing.

5) If mailing of a completed exam is required, please bring an addressed/postage-paid envelope for the return of the exam.  TCC does not provide mailing materials or postage.

6) A photo ID is required for all testing.

*****

Please notify us of any special accommodations which may be required. We are not able to administer all types of exams (for instance, we cannot administer oral exams for language courses).

If a student fails to adhere to these policies, we reserve the right to not administer the test to the student. Repeated failure to adhere to these policies may result in revocation of proctoring privileges. In the event that this occurs, no refund will be given.

Please keep in mind that it is the student's responsibility to make testing arrangements in advance. We suggest that the student and the student's home institution make proctoring arrangements at the beginning of the semester to ensure timely arrival of exam instructions.
