The Gadsden Center reflects TCC’s strong commitment to providing programs and services and a meaningful presence that meets the real needs of the local community.

Programs Offered

Certified Phlebotomy Technician

This course prepares students to enter the healthcare industry as Certified Phlebotomy Technicians and includes theory and hands-on instruction. Individuals are trained in technical and procedural aspects of basic phlebotomy, including venipuncture and collection of blood specimens required to become a Phlebotomy Technician. For successful course completion, students must complete a minimum of 30 venipuncture and ten capillary live sticks. Upon successfully completing the program, students will earn a BLS/First Aid Certification and the Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT). 

Length: 75 hours

Requirements:

Students must be a minimum of 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or GED equivalency.

Phlebotomy Interest Form Spring 2024

Clinical Medical Assistant

This course prepares students to understand foundational knowledge in basic science, anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, pharmacology, and nutrition. As well as clinical patient care related to phlebotomy, electrocardiography, parenteral administration, point-of-care testing, assessment & management skills. This course provides instruction of administrative tasks related to clinical medical assistants. Upon successfully completing the program, students will earn a BLS/First Aid Certification and the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA). 

Length: 230 hours (150 hours classroom/80 hours clinical)

Requirements:

Students must be a minimum of 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or GED equivalency.

Clinical Medical Interest Form Spring 2024

HVAC/R 1

This program prepares students to enter employment in the HVAC field or for those already in the HVAC field to continue their education. Students will be trained to become HVAC helpers, mechanic assistants, mechanics, or technicians and will explore the various career options to determine what exit point best fits their needs. Students will complete the requirements to receive an OSHA-10 Safety Card in the first course of the program. Students will acquire the skills needed to successfully complete industry-recognized certifications, including an Environmental Protection Agency certification, which is typically used in this industry for employability purposes.

Length: 750 hours

Requirements:

Students must be at least 17 years of age and must turn 18 years of age before the end of the first semester in the program.

 HVAC Interest Form Spring 2024

Nursing Assistant - Long-Term Care/Home Health Aide (Combined)

The Nursing Assistant - Long Term Care/Home Health Aide course at the TCC Gadsden Center prepares students to enter the healthcare industry in an entry-level position as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Home Health Aide. The program provides students with classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction. Upon completing the program, students will earn a Certificate of Completion for Home Health Aide and register to complete the CNA Board Exam. 

Length: 120 hours

*This course is provided for FREE through the Sunshine Health Scholarship for eligible students.

CNA Interest Form Spring 2024

GED/ESOL Classes

The TCC Gadsden Center offers onsite GED classes and ESOL classes for registered individuals. All prospective GED students must take the TABE test. All prospective ESOL students must take the CASAS test. Classes are held:

GED
Monday – Thursday
9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

GED in Spanish
Monday – Thursday
1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

ESOL
Monday – Thursday
6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Proctored Testing

The TCC Gadsden Center conveniently offers a variety of testing services.  Testing services include:

  • PERT Testing for College Admissions
  • TABE Testing
  • CASAS Testing
  • Online class proctored testing for TCC students
  • Distance Learning testing for students of other universities and colleges

All tests require a minimum of 24 hours of advance scheduling in order to guarantee availability. To schedule a testing time, call (850) 558-3620 or email GadsdenCenter@tcc.fl.edu.

Financial Aid and Scholarships

Financial aid and scholarships are available for eligible students. Visit the TCC Financial Aid & Scholarship office or access the application for scholarships offered through Tallahassee Community College.

Other payment options may be available to help you cover the cost of training. 

Services for Job Seekers

The TCC Gadsden Center houses a fully equipped computer lab to connect Gadsden job seekers with the online job search process. Computers can be used to access online applications, develop cover letters and resumes, and find out more about training opportunities to advance your career. Staff is available to review your resume and offer tips and suggestions on improving your job search.
