Parent Night
August 4th, 2014
6:15 PM

We are excited to be able to showcase our new building, The Wakulla One Stop Community Center, and the amazing work that our students have been doing this summer. We will also have a brief introduction to the other programs offered by the Community Center. Come prepared for a great dance routine, martial arts demonstration, and a musical performance by our students. Please see the PDF for more details.

Watch our students make some important scientific (and educational) discoveries on the TCC Report about the TCC STEM Gym!

The Florida Department of Education awarded a 21st Century grant to Tallahassee Community College to support a 21st Century Community Learning Center Program to serve Wakulla County students. The grant project is a collaborative effort between TCC, Wakulla Christian School, Wakulla County Schools, Communities in Schools of Florida and local organizations.  The program is based at Wakulla Christian School and serves students enrolled at eight elementary and middle schools throughout Wakulla County – Crawfordville Elementary, Medart Elementary, Riversink Elementary, Shadeville Elementary, Wakulla Coast Charter, Riversprings Middle, Wakulla Middle and Wakulla Christian School. The 21st CCLC program plays a critically important role in changing the lives of at-risk students by preparing students to succeed at their schools and beyond. The Wakulla 21st Century Community Learning Center aims to increase students’ academic performance, increase awareness of healthy behaviors and increase family involvement.  The Wakulla Christian School site delivers services for 140 students in pre-k through eighth grade during afterschool and summer.

The Wakulla 21st CCLC will provide enrichment to Wakulla County youth currently enrolled in Pre K-8th grade in the areas of math, reading, science, and writing; and will offer the families of participating students opportunities for literacy and related educational development.  The program will offer a wide range of opportunities in areas of education, personal development and recreation that will include business partners, mentors and educational facilitators.

Programming at this time includes:

FCAT Review in Reading, Writing, Science & Math

Daily Homework Center

Martial Arts
