Tallahassee Community College Launches Blackboard Mobile Learn App

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (February 6, 2013) – Tallahassee Community College has launched Blackboard Mobile Learn, a mobile application that gives students full access to their course information directly from their smartphones.
With an intuitive application designed specifically for the iOS and Android mobile platforms, students can check grades and assignments, view documents, create discussion and blog posts and much more. Instructors can also post announcements, upload content to their courses, view assignments, and create and manage discussions, blogs and journals.
“With more and more TCC students relying on their smartphones to access the Internet, we’re glad that we can partner with Blackboard Mobile to offer these apps,” said Bret Ingerman, vice president for Information Technology at TCC.
Students, faculty and staff can download the app through the App Store and Google Play; iOS and Android devices on all carriers and networks can use the application. Once users have downloaded the app, they can elect to subscribe for $1.99 for one year of access, or pay a one-time fee of $5.99 for unlimited access. The app was developed by Blackboard Mobile, a division of education technology company Blackboard Inc.
“Blackboard Mobile Learn will be especially useful for TCC’s distance learning students,” said Marilyn Dickey, director of TCC’s Center for Distance Learning. “We emphasize that students should be able to access TCC resources anywhere, and the Blackboard Mobile app will help us expand that commitment.”
