TCC announces new project management program

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (July 11, 2013) - Tallahassee Community College's Division of Workforce Development has announced a new project management program. The program targets supervisors, mid-management and administrative staff interested in familiarizing themselves with the most common terminology and current practices of project management.

Participants in the Fundamentals of Project Management program will learn how to conceptualize their projects with goals and vision statements, identify phases of a project lifecycle and enhance their ability to sell ideas and make presentations. The program will help professionals prepare for the realities of completing projects, such as timely job completion and budgetary concerns.

The program is offered in classroom sessions as a three-part series for $199 per class, or in an online format for $895. After successful completion of the introductory course, an intermediate and advanced project management program course is available. Open for enrollment now, the online course is a prep course designed to help students pass the project management certification exam and to obtain their Project Management Professional (PMP)® credential, the most important industry-recognized certification for project managers. Globally recognized and demanded, the PMP® demonstrates that you have the experience, education and competency to lead and direct projects, and increases the marketability of professionals to employers.

“Project management is a vital skill to have, both in the private and public sectors," said Bridget Elwell, program development specialist. "We're glad to expand our training with this program and to meet the needs of students and working professionals by also offering the class online."

The classroom courses will be held from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the TCC Capitol Center at the lower level of the Mary Brogan Museum, on the following days:
  • September 11:  Project Management
  • October 18:  Intermediate Project Management
  • November 12:  Advanced Project Management
