TCC's new Veterans Center to host an open house

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (October 7, 2013) – Tallahassee Community College’s new Veterans Center will host an open house on Monday, October 21.

The event will be located in the Computer Technology building, room 206, from 1 to 4 p.m.  

The Center offers student veterans and dependents academic advising, assistance with Veterans Affairs (VA) benefits, financial management training, academic tutoring, and networking opportunities for veterans. 

Community and regional agency representatives will be present at the open house, including:


  • TCC Student Veterans Association
  • Veterans Affairs Hospital
  • Tallahassee Vet Center
  •  North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health Systems
  • Veterans Tallahassee Outpatient Clinics
  • Leon County Veterans Resources Service Center
  • Florida Veterans Foundation


“The Veterans Center is here to assist student veterans in their transition to college and in reaching their educational and professional goals,” said Jim Murdaugh, president of Tallahassee Community College. 

The Center provides computers, study stations and conversation areas for veterans and dependents, offering an ideal atmosphere of academic and personal support.

Tallahassee Community College was recently designated a military-friendly school by Victory Media. Victory Media’s 2014 Military Friendly Schools list recognizes the top 20 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools doing the most to recruit and retain military students and their families.
