TCC to host Shuyuan Ho as part of National Cyber Security Awareness Month

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (October 21, 2013) – In honor of National Cyber Security Awareness Month, Tallahassee Community College’s Center for Workforce Development will be hosting Dr. Shuyuan Ho, assistant professor in the School of Library and Information Studies at Florida State University.

The event will be on Thursday, October 24, at 11:30 a.m. in the Center for Workforce Development, room 105.

Ho will speak about the exciting world of cyber security and potential careers in the field. She will also share her research addressing issues of cyber insider threats and online identity theft, speak on her role as an adviser for FSU’s Cyber Defense team, and discuss her work in designing online games as cyber defense experiment protocols.

“Cyber security is among the top 10 fastest growing careers in America. All industries, from retail sales to hospitals to power plants depend on information technology and cyber protection,” said Amy Combs, TCC program coordinator for Information Technology.

This presentation should be a unique opportunity for all students interested in information technology career fields.
