TCC Gear Up students participate in annual Physics Day

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (January 7, 2013) – Recently, over 450 students in the TCC Gear Up Program immersed themselves in the world of physics at Physics Day, sponsored by Busch Gardens in Tampa, Florida. This annual event is a fun way for students to learn the dynamics of physics and enhance their knowledge of science.

The students explored interactive physics stations located around the park, plus a live physics interactive show and one hour of exclusive park ride time. Teachers received a free copy of a physics guide packed full of in-class instructions.

“We love bringing our students to physics day because it provides them with a unique learning opportunity that stimulates their interest in science,” said Senovia Williams, project coordinator for TCC Gear Up.

The Florida Gear Up project is a state grant partnership between TCC and the Florida Department of Education. It is designed to provide early intervention for prioritized students in targeted schools that will set, align, and apply rigorous and relevant academic standards to increase student rates of learning, completion, postsecondary enrollment, and will align with employer needs.
