TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (April 24, 2014) – Tallahassee Community College will
host a ceremony next week for
the first cohort of students completing their education in the EAGLE
The ceremony, which will take place at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, in TCC’s
Turner Auditorium, honors the graduates of a unique program dedicated to empowering young adults with cognitive disabilities
to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to become independent and productive
“This program is the first of its
kind in our area, providing postsecondary opportunities to students with
developmental disabilities,” said TCC Disability Services Coordinator Stephanie
EAGLE Connections students complete
a core curriculum and also have the chance to explore career opportunities
through the program.
“These students have demonstrated
that education is truly for everyone and that higher education provides
pathways to individual growth as well as employment opportunity,” said Crosby.
The EAGLE Connections Program is
currently accepting applications for students to enroll for Fall 2014. The
program is also seeking mentors for the 2014-2015 academic year.
