EAGLE Connections students to complete program next week

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (April 24, 2014) – Tallahassee Community College will host a ceremony next week for the first cohort of students completing their education in the EAGLE Connections Program.

The ceremony, which will take place at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, in TCC’s Turner Auditorium, honors the graduates of a unique program dedicated to empowering young adults with cognitive disabilities to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to become independent and productive citizens.

This program is the first of its kind in our area, providing postsecondary opportunities to students with developmental disabilities,” said TCC Disability Services Coordinator Stephanie Crosby.

EAGLE Connections students complete a core curriculum and also have the chance to explore career opportunities through the program.

“These students have demonstrated that education is truly for everyone and that higher education provides pathways to individual growth as well as employment opportunity,” said Crosby.

The EAGLE Connections Program is currently accepting applications for students to enroll for Fall 2014. The program is also seeking mentors for the 2014-2015 academic year.
