WTXL creates scholarships for TCC students

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (June 23, 2014) – Tallahassee’s ABC affiliate will provide four $3,000 scholarships for Tallahassee Community College students starting in the Fall 2014 semester.

WTXL ABC 27 created the Dedicated Companies Scholarship to assist students who are first-generation college attendees, honorably discharged veterans and/or single parents of a child under age 18.

“Together with TCC, our Dedicated Companies are increasing the amount of scholarship money available to those students in our community looking to achieve their dreams of attending college,” said Michael German, WTXL’s general sales manager.

Dedicated Companies is a partnership between WTXL and five area companies. The initiative is designed to raise awareness of local charities through the creative use of public service announcements.

The Dedicated Companies include Gold’s Gym, Kraft Nissan, Home Instead Senior Care, Rowe Roofing and the Tallahassee Board of Realtors. TCC will match funds from these companies for the scholarships.

“We are immensely pleased to partner with WTXL and the Dedicated Companies to provide scholarships for these deserving students,” said Jim Murdaugh, TCC president.

The first four scholarships will be awarded prior to Fall 2014. Four more $3,000 awards are set for disbursement in Spring 2015.

Students who wish to apply for the scholarship should visit and select “Dedicated Companies Scholarship Application Fall 2014.”
