TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (August 6, 2014) - The Institute for Nonprofit Innovation and Excellence, in partnership with Tallahassee Community College, will present a three-part board governance workshop series for nonprofit professionals starting next month at the TCC Capitol Center.
The Developing and Catalyzing Your Board series, supported by the Jim Moran Institute for Global Entrepreneurship, is suggested for board members or individuals who are considering becoming board members, CEOs or executive directors of a nonprofit organization.
"Assisting nonprofit organizations in developing their business acumen is an important part of our outreach mission at the Jim Moran Institute," said Randy Blass, Ph.D., executive director of the Moran Institute.
The workshops are scheduled for September 17 and October 15 from 9 to 10:30 a.m., and November 12 from 9 a.m. to noon. Presenters include Kelly Otte, executive director, PACE Center for Girls; Mark Payne, CPA, partner in James Moore and Company; and Gail Perry, MBA, CFRE, professional speaker and fundraising consultant at Fired-Up Fundraising.com.
Topics include board orientation, understanding Internal Revenue Service regulations and financial statements, and improving fundraising conversations, among others.
Space is limited to the first 25 registrants. Those who attend all three workshops receive a certificate of completion and may be able to apply their participation for credit toward their required continuing education units. While attending all three sessions is recommended, registrants may also sign up for individual workshops.
