TCC Workforce Development offers Excel training to Flagler students

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (August 5, 2014) – Business and accounting students at the Flagler College campus at Tallahassee Community College will receive specialized training through TCC Workforce Development in Fall 2014.

Students in the Computer Applications in Business course will learn the ins and outs of Microsoft Excel and have the opportunity to achieve the internationally recognized Microsoft Office Specialist certification in the program. This is the first time Flagler and TCC Workforce Development have collaborated on offering credit classes.

“This joint venture highlights the mutual benefit the TCC-Flagler partnership brings to our students,” said Anthony Carro, Flagler’s business administration and accounting chair. “Our hope is that, by having students take this skill training at the start of the program, we will enhance academic achievement.”

Carro said Flagler anticipates approximately 50 students will enroll in the two Fall 2014 evening sections of the course, which is required for all Flagler business and accounting students. Expertise in Excel is a highly sought-after skill in the professional world, particularly in accounting and finance.

“It is exciting to collaborate with the knowledgeable and professional staff at Workforce Development on the Microsoft Office Specialist certification,” said Donald Parks, Flagler College Tallahassee dean. “This adds considerable value to our students.”
