Solar Photovoltaic Installer

Solar photovoltaic installers assemble, install or maintain solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on roofs or other structures in compliance with site assessment and schematics. Their duties may include measuring, cutting, assembling and bolting structural framing and solar systems, including solar collectors, concentrators, pumps and fans. PV installers may also perform minor electrical work such as current checks.

Work Conditions

Solar photovoltaic installers generally spend their days outdoors and on top of buildings’ roofs. Safety precautions must be taken to minimize the possibility of accidents.

Employment Outlook

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of solar photovoltaic installers is expected to grow by 10 to 19 percent, about the average for all occupations.
