Correctional Probation Basic Recruit Certificate (5012)
Through TCC's Correctional Probation Officer Certification Program, students can meet the minimum standards for employment as a correctional probation officer in Florida. This certification ensures that the public is served by officers who are ethical, qualified and well-trained.
During Basic Recruit training students will gain a better understanding of the criminal justice system, including learning about how to testify in the courtroom, emergency preparedness, use of defensive tactics, firearms and more.
Certification requires the student to complete 465 clock hours of training. The Correctional Probation Officer Certification Program is considered full-time, with classes meeting from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for 11 weeks.
Correctional Probation Officer Basic Recruit training will help students meet the minimum requirements of the Florida Department of Corrections, but many positions also require a bachelor's degree. The Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission required a bachelor's degree in criminal justice or a related field. Basic Recruit training credit can be applied toward several degrees at TCC.
