Building Construction Specialist Certificate (6353)

Students in this certificate program complete courses designed to prepare them for entry into the construction industry in areas including design, building inspection, and project management.  Courses include instruction in use and management of heavy construction equipment; materials used in residential and commercial construction; technical communication using Auto CAD; and practical applications of geometry, algebra, and trigonometry.

 

All courses in this certificate may be applied to the Associate in Science degree in Building Construction management, and many courses apply to other programs in the Engineering and Building Construction Technology program. Students may begin with any of the certificates, or enter immediately into the degree program. Each certificate or degree will provide students with the skills and credentials to move into the job market or advance to the next academic level.

Program Purpose:
To provide students with introductory knowledge of the modern residential and commercial construction industries. Topics include construction management, computer applications and materials science.

Coursework in this program articulates into the Building Construction Management, A.S. (2160)  degree program.

Employment Types:
Estimator, foreman, expeditor, superintendent, assistant project manager

Program Length:
18 credit hours

Admission Requirements:
Admission requirements for TPP programs are the same as admission to the College: standard high school diploma or GED diploma. Most TPP program courses require students to be College-ready, which means the student must have appropriate placement scores, complete any needed developmental education or meet the requirements for a documented exemption.
