STS1310L Surgical Techniques and Procedures Lab and Clinical

Corequisite(s):  
This course prepares students for the roles of the surgical technologist, including the scrub role in surgical procedures, tissue handling techniques, wound closure techniques, preparation of suture, passing of instruments and the surgical setup for common procedures. Actions are emphasized that facilitate the usual sequence of the surgical procedure for all segments of perioperative care, including the preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative care of the patient. Lab and Clinical: 90 clock hours per semester. Additional fee. Does not count toward A.A. degree.
