GEAR UP/TCC Summer Institute 2014
 

This year, the GEAR UP/TCC Summer Institute will be held from Monday, June 9 through Friday, June 13, 2014 on the campus of Tallahassee Community College. Operating hours will be 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The Institute will serve incoming 9th through 12th grade students who attend Nims Middle School, Rickards High School, Jefferson County Middle/High School, and Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University Developmental Research School (FAMU DRS). The program will provide an opportunity for students to experience academic and enrichment-focused learning in a real-life college environment.  Students will attend courses that will challenge and prepare them for college level success.  Courses will be provided in the areas of language arts, college success, financial literacy, and computer technology.  The summer institute will also offer a host of fun and exciting enrichment activities in the areas of drama, dance, leadership development, and graphic arts.  Each student will be asked to pick an Enrichment Academy that they would like to participate in for the entire week.  The summer institute will be provided at no cost to parents.

Soaring Eagles Summer Camp
Bronson Middle/High School

June 10 – 26, 2014
9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., Monday – Wednesday; Thursday 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Bus & Lunch Provided Free of Charge (Thursday Educational Trip Days Busses Return at 6 p.m.)
This summer we are thrilled to provide a summer program, Soaring Eagles Summer Academy 2014 that solely focuses on incoming 6th, 7th and 8th middle school students from Bronson Middle/High School and their high school and college preparation needs! At the conclusion of the two week program, every student will have a beginning high school foundation in the subject areas of English, Math, History and Science as well as Enrichment subjects such as learning skills, life skills and high school 101. They will also engage in college tours at Valencia College and Daytona State College and educational field trip programs to Orlando Science Center, Museum of Arts and Science and Pinellas County Heritage Village. We are only accepting 45 students and our application deadline is May 16th.

Columbia High School Summer Academy 2014

 

The Columbia High School (CHS) GEAR UP Summer Academy is a program designed to stimulate our students in an educationally enriching environment in a non-traditional fashion.  The CHS GEAR UP Academy is held for two weeks and is filled with fun and exciting things for our students to participate in and gain early awareness and readiness for undergraduate programs..  Students will be able to participate in four academies within our program: AVID Summer Bridge, Career Ed. Technology, College Ed. Curriculum, and S.T.E.M. Academy.  The AVID Summer Bridge program integrates (W.I.C.O.R.) using Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading to assist in student learning.  SUMMER ACADEMY FLYER.docSUMMER ACADEMY FLYER.doc

The Raider Nation Summer Institute

The Raider Nation Summer Institute will be held from Monday, June 23, 2014 through June 27, 2014 on the campus of James S. Rickards High School. The institute will serve incoming 9th grade students from feeder schools (Nims Middle, Fairview Middle, Cobb Middle, Griffin Middle, etc.) and rising 10th – 12th grade students currently attending Rickards High School. The program will provide an opportunity for students to experience rigorous academic as well as enrichment-focus curriculum. Students will attend courses that will challenge and prepare them for success at the next level. Academic courses will include: Math, Science, Reading,  AP Boost, IB Boost, FCAT Prep (Reading and Writing), ACT Prep and Financial Literacy. Enrichment courses will include Dance, Art, Technology/Engineering, and IB Boost.
