The Developmental Communications and College Success Program provides opportunities for students to improve their performance in the college-entry skills of English and writing and reading. Any student who scores below the state-adopted minimum college placement test score in any of the three skill areas must register for the developmental writing or reading courses.
College Success courses provide students with instruction and strategies to support success in the classroom. The courses also help students develop life management and leadership skills and provide students with tools for career planning. Students placing in two or more developmental courses must enroll in SLS1510. Students who place in ENC0015 or REA0007 are required to enroll in SLS0003 before enrolling in SLS1510.
The College Success Program assists students in developing and applying effective strategies for achieving success in college and life. The program provides opportunities for students to develop life-long learning and success strategies and leadership skills.
The Developmental Reading Program provides students with reading experiences and related activities that enhance students’ critical thinking abilities and assist them in developing and applying college-level reading strategies. The program provides a solid foundation for success in college-level reading.
The Developmental Writing Program provides students with writing experiences and related activities that enhance students’ critical thinking abilities and provide a solid foundation for college-level writing. The program offers courses in developmental writing and courses in English for Academic Purposes.
