Computer Aided Crash Diagramming with Crash Zone 

This course uses the Crash Zone Drawing Software from CADZONE. The student will learn the tools needed to effectively render a crash scene to scale. The student will learn how to enter the data manually and how to download the data from a mapping device. An introduction to Quick Scene will also be covered. Course topics will include:

  • Overview of file systems for drawing files
  • Drawing tools and nomenclature
  • Drawing shortcuts
  • Using text and identifying dimensions
  • Using layers
  • Direct data entry and downloaded data
  • Creating curves and applying radius measurements
  • Printouts and court exhibits.

Students will work in our computer lab on numerous scale diagramming projects.

 Prerequisites

 

​None. Students must be active sworn law enforcement officers whose duties include crash investigation, or civilian employees of Florida law enforcement agencies who are crash investigators or crash investigation support personnel.

During training, the student is expected to attend the entire class. Absence due to medical, family, or agency requirements must be approved by the instructor and made up on the students own time. The maximum time that may be made up is 10%. If more than 10% is missed, the student will be withdrawn from training.

 

 What Should I Bring?

 
A laptop computer with the latest version of crash zone loaded.
 

 What are the Expenses?

 
​Tuition for this training is provided through a grant, so there is no cost to you or your agency. Housing and meals are provided onsite at no cost when the training is offered onsite at the Florida Public Safety Institute and you will be traveling from out of town.
