Sign Language Interpreter requests must be done before August 9, 2013

for Fall term 2013!

Before receiving accommodations, students must provide the Disability Support Services (DSS) Office with documentation of disabilities and schedule an intake meeting with a DSS counselor. Guidelines for determining accommodations are based on national best practices in higher education and the legal interpretations of the Office for Civil Rights (OCR).

When working with a student to determine what accommodations will be provided, the following questions guide decisions:

  • Is the accommodation request reasonable based on the documentation provided?
  • Does the provision of the accommodation fundamentally alter the nature of the exam?
  • Is the assessment designed to measure skills that the accommodation would eliminate?
  • What is the relationship between the goals of the course and the assessment?

Accommodations may include:

  • Extended time testing
  • Note taking Services
  • Reader Services
  • Recorders
  • Audio Books via
  • E-Texts
  • Adaptive technology
  • Math accommodations

  • Spelling accommodations
