Writing the Syllabus and Picking Up Materials
Instructors are expected to review learning outcomes and instructional strategies each semester they teach, to ensure the consistency of each respective course with the objectives of the College and with the needs of the students. Instructors are expected to use the master syllabus, the text and materials that have been selected by the division faculty as the basis for course presentations.
As an integral part of any course, there are a number of
things to consider when developing a syllabus.
The Center for Teaching,
Learning, and Leadership has created an online, self-paced module focused on
helping instructors produce effective syllabi. Whether you are writing a
syllabus for the first time and don’t know where to start or you are looking to
enhance your existing syllabi, this module will provide the proper knowledge,
examples, and strategies.
