Become a Take Stock Scholar

Each year, TCC Take Stock in Children recruitment selects a limited number of deserving students in Leon, Gadsden and Wakulla counties. We are recruiting current 9th grade students and/or students who will begin 9th grade during the next school year. Please read the Take Stock Interest Letter for additional information.

Enrollment Period: September 1, 2020 - September 30, 2020

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet ALL eligibility criteria prior to becoming a Take Stock Scholar and only complete applications will be considered for selection.

To be considered, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Income - Take Stock in Children is an income based program. Students must qualify financially for SNAP benefits based upon USDA income eligibility guidelines. View the 2020-21 Income Eligibility Guidelines to see if you meet the income requirements. Please note: If the student's family income is above the threshold, he/she is not eligible.
  • Grades/GPA - Must have maintained a “C” or better in all classes within the past year and obtained a minimum of 2.50 GPA (unweighted) 
  • Attendance - No more than eight (8) unexcused absences per semester within the past year.
  • Behavior - No more than one (1) in-school suspension per quarter and no (0) out-of-school suspensions within the past year.
  • School Enrollment - Must be enrolled in a Florida public school and be on track to receive a standard high school diploma.
  • Scheduled Events - Students must be able to attend scheduled Take Stock in Children events at Tallahassee Community College.
  • Schools served -
    • Leon County: Godby, Leon, Lincoln, Rickards, FAMU DRS and Florida High Schools
    • Gadsden County: Gadsden County High School, Crossroads Academy
    • Wakulla County: Wakulla High School. 


Submit all of the following documents in order to be considered:

  • A fully-completed Take Stock Student Application.
  • Current Federal Income Tax transcript, verifying total household income and listing the student applicant as a dependent. Documentation of SNAP benefits may also be used as verification of income.
  • Copy of the latest report card (fall) for the school year.
  • Copy of latest test scores (FSA, EOC, etc.).
