TCC Spark, Tallahassee Community College’s entrepreneurship program, has provided valuable insights and opportunities to a broad range of business-minded individuals since its launch.
The benefits of TCC Spark’s programming have proven invaluable to those just starting off in the professional world, as well as those already well-established. In the latter case, David Jones certainly stands out.
Jones enrolled in the inaugural cohort of TCC’s Introduction to Entrepreneurship course seeking guidance to aid in building a new program that could help people in need and provide a revenue source for the Florida Disabled Outdoors Association, of which he is the founder and president.
“The TCC Spark class helped me to realize there is much existing data that can let people discover and learn for themselves about potential barriers to a project before jumping in too soon or too deep,” said Jones. “It was a very worthy investment of my time; I highly recommend this class for everyone.”
Jones, who is a member of the TCC Alumni and Friends Association Hall of Fame, actively worked to start a collaborative partnership between the College and the FDOA. He is involved in local, state and national projects and discussions on disability, healthcare, rehabilitation, recreation, conservation education, transportation and more.
Enrollment for the Fall 2018 cohort of Introduction to Entrepreneurship is now open. The 16-week course meets Thursday evenings beginning August 23, 2018, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the TCC Center for Innovation, located at 300 South Duval Street.
The course costs $225 plus the price of the textbook. Limited seating is available for the non-credit, hands-on, practical course designed for those who want to explore a business idea, start a business for the first time, grow a micro or small business, or plan an expansion of an existing business.
The TCC Spark! program is sponsored by a five-year, $300,000 grant from First Commerce Credit Union, a full-service financial institution with locations throughout North Florida and South Georgia.
