Cleaver and Cork a success

March 26, 2018

Over 300 of Tallahassee Community College’s friends gathered earlier this month under the oaks at Goodwood for the third annual TCC Foundation Cleaver and Cork event. The setting was beautiful, the weather perfect, the company excellent—and the food was fabulous!

Chef Amanda Freitag, a fixture in the New York restaurant scene and on the Food Network, treated her audience to four delightful courses using locally grown ingredients. She introduced each course to the crowd, delighting them with her thoughts on and personal stories about the menu, the wine pairings, and her cookbook, The Chef Next Door.

“Chef Freitag was fabulous. She was engaging, funny, and really seemed to enjoy spending the evening with us,” said Heather Mitchell, vice president for institutional advancement and executive director of the TCC Foundation. “She was also pleased that funds raised from her event would renovate two classrooms on TCC’s campus, and that those funds were being matched dollar-for-dollar.”

Conceived as a farm-to-table affair, Cleaver and Cork raises funds to support the mission of TCC. The event would not be possible without the generous sponsorship of many, including Capital City Bank, Moore Communications Group, Rick Kearney, and Westminster Oaks. Plans are underway for next year’s event, scheduled for March 1, 2019. Stay tuned for details. We hope you will plan to join us for what’s sure to be a memorable evening!
