Tallahassee Community College (TCC) has been named by the Goodwill Industries - Big Bend (GIBB) 2021 Mission Partner of the Year. The College was recognized at the 2022 Annual Meeting and Power of Work Banquet on Wednesday, May 4.

“Goodwill of the Big Bend is such a vital organization in our community,” said Jim Murdaugh, President of TCC. “From retail to housing, to providing career training and job placement, they believe that every person should have the opportunity to succeed. It is our honor to be recognized for this award.”

TCC was nominated for the College’s work done in partnership with Goodwill Industries, to create programs and services that remove barriers and provide a path to employment and self-sufficiency through workforce development. Dr. Kimberly Moore, Vice President for Workforce Innovation & TCC2WORK has worked hand-in-hand with Goodwill Industries to plan, strategize, and promote training and education for those who have had brushes with law enforcement to be provided a second chance that creates a win-win for the individual and our community.

“TCC is extremely grateful to be a recipient of the Mission Partner of the Year award, stated Dr. Kimberly Moore, VP for Workforce Innovation and TCC2WORK, “This award directly aligns with our core value of being the partner of choice and is evidence of our continued commitment to creating partnerships that make our community better”.

TCC was also instrumental in Goodwill’s recent receipt of the Department of Labor grant funding that supports the  IGNITE program. Goodwill was only 1 of 5 in the nation to receive this grant award. The funding will be used to expand the partnerships with TCC, employers, economic development organizations, and community-based organizations. The collaboration is all in an effort to create a pipeline of skilled workers to fill the existing job openings and, meet employer needs for those with goals for expansion.
