Workforce Development BuildingTallahassee Community College has partnered with Danfoss Turbocor, one of the region’s largest manufacturers, to offer an internship in Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) Machining, an automatically and digitally controlled machining process that can be applied in a large variety of manufacturing processes and machinery. The customized internship will address the growing demand seen for this skillset within the Danfoss operation.

“Manufacturing offers a fulfilling and stable career path,” said Ricardo Schneider, President and General Manager of Danfoss Turbocor. “We are excited to collaborate with TCC to bring talented people to the industry and address the CNC machinist gap. Our partnership with TCC is a great example of how the private sector can work with educational institutions to bring value to all in the community. We are extremely proud of this partnership.”

Twelve slots are available for the first cohort of interns. No manufacturing experience is required. Individuals selected will complete three months of training from February 1 through April 29, 2023, at TCC. Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 9 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. The students will then continue the training at Danfoss for an additional three months with a starting salary of $18 an hour while they are training with the opportunity of a pay increase after six months of work. At the completion of the internship, students will have earned Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) CORE, and National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) certifications.
